Oversees and directs the day-to-day operations of the Environmental Services Department ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe environment and participates in the departments performance improvement activities. The primary responsibility of the Environmental Services Supervisor is to provide the highest quality of service at all times to our customers
Primary Duties
1. Assists in development and implantation of departmental polices and procedures and standards of
work.
2. Trains, educates, and develops staff to equip them with the basic skills for good customer service
and to perform job duties/responsibilities in line with best practices.
3. Support and carry out the facility polices.
4. Lead and guide the departmental personnel.
5. Makes rounds throughout the Hospital to inspect and check the work of employees to ensure proper
cleaning/disinfecting techniques and adherence to cleaning schedules.
6. Maintain knowledge of current Environmental Services processes and procedures.
7. Supervises the activities of personnel by interviewing and assisting with the decision making process
for hiring, training, coaching, evaluating and terminating employees.
8. Communicates expectations to staff. Monitors and reviews staff performance on a regular basis.
9. Maintains the confidentiality of information pertaining to patients, physicians, employees and

11. Responsible for compliance with AHH and EVS policies and procedures as well as legal and
regulatory functions.
12. Provide leadership to the housekeeping team for all EVS operations.
13. Execute and maintain daily quality control systems.
14. Create bi-weekly work schedules for the EVS team.

19. Assist with and participate in orientation, in-services training, and continuing education of person in
the department.
20. Maintain proficiency in all techniques and equipment used by the Environmental Service
Department.
21. Ensure all equipment is tested regularly.
22. Maintain equipment and wear protective clothing (PPE) as required by the work environment or
government regulations.
23. May also train workers engaged in cleaning and maintaining the premises.
24. Recommend the number of qualified and competent staff that the department needs to provide
quality service.
25. Recommend space and other resources needed by the department.
26. Participate in selecting outside sources for needed services.
27. Participate in day- to-day staffing.
28. Monitor linen usage and reviews statistics with the Environmental Service Director.
29. Supervisor makes recommendations to the Assistant Environmental Services Director for changes in supplies, equipment or procedures to improve safety and patient care or to reduce cost.
30. Reviews and approves employee evaluation(s) in a timely manner per company policy.
31. Evaluates and directs employees performance on a regular basis and takes corrective action if necessary.
