Support Services Floor Tech – FT Nights Full Time

The primary responsibility of the Support Services Floor CareTechnician is to provide the highest quality of service to customers at all times. In order to fulfill these responsibilities the Support Services Floor Technician performs assigned task in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Support Services Department. Cleans and maintains all carpeted and hard surfaces in the facility, perform preventive maintenance on special floor equipment.

Primary Duties

1. Primary Functions:

  • Cleans coverings, floors and carpets, restroom fixtures and showers.
  • Hangs draperies (to include cubicle and shower curtains).
  • Sets-up tables and chairs in auditorium or halls.
  • Pushes/pulls cleaning cart or flatbed and carries buckets.
  • Operates equipment, such as all floor machines, that is hospital-issued.
  • Maintains equipment and wears protective clothing as required by the work environment or government regulations.
  • May train workers engaged in cleaning and maintaining the floors.
  • Follow AHH and department safety, security, and loss prevention policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment.
  • Report work related accidents, or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to manager/supervisor.
  • Follow policies and procedures for the safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and machines.
  • Follow all compliance programs (e.g. safety and fire, hazardous materials and waste program, emergency management program, utility management program, medical equipment management program, infection and control).
  • Use proper equipment, wear appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employ correct lifting procedures, as necessary, to avoid injury.
  • Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions and/or report them to management and security/safety personnel.
  • Handle or store hazardous materials or waste according to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Complete appropriate safety training and certifications to perform work tasks.
  • Protect company tools, equipment, machines, or other assets in accordance with AHH policies and procedures.
  • Ensure uniform/dress codes and personal appearance are clean, hygienic, professional and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Follow all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies/procedures (e.g. Quality Assurance, Safety, Operations, and Human Resources).
  • Protect the privacy and security of customers, patients, and co-workers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary materials and information, including maintaining compliance with all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) Privacy Act regulations.
  • Clean and maintain property and premises, ensuring all cleanliness standards are met.
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e.g. to identify problems or defects).
  • Post caution signs (e.g. wet floor signs) to limit traffic when necessary.
  • Buff, polish, and strip floors using heavy equipment.
  • Clean floor and/or stair surfaces using designated chemicals, supplies, and equipment (e.g. brooms, mops, buffers, vacuums, wet vacuums, extractor, shampoo machine, and stain remover).
  • Performs advance carpet cleaning and carpet care procedures.
  • Remove trash, recyclables, soiled linens, used supplies and equipment from assigned work area. Use disinfects receptacles and carts as needed.


  • Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. completed within six (6) months of hire date and/or placement into position required
  • Experience:  Minimum of one year floor care experience required.
